I recently read a blog, where they pointed out some health issues related to 3D viewing. Is it true that 3D TV can trigger health problems?

Hi nadim09, LG WRman Greg here!
Perhaps you haven't met the LG CINEMA 3D SMART TV. According to The American Optometric Association watching 3D TV does not affect the health of children. The AOA stated that the vision development for the vast majority of children is not in any way affected by viewing 3D images on their TVs. TVs that use active shutter glasses may cause eye strain and dizziness in some people. LG’s CINEMA 3D Smart TV is powered by Film Patterned Retarder (FPR) technology, which involves a film applied to the top of the panel, and whose pattern separates images for the left and right eye. This means the glasses show one image to the right eye and another to the left eye. And the image is transmitted from the TV and not from the glasses, so it does not cause eye strain. We don’t know about all the other TVs out there, but LG’s FPR CINEMA 3D SMART TVs are perfectly safe, for young and old alike.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask or check out the official site for more info at *www.lg.com/in/3d-tv.

LG WRman Greg out!

The health problems comes when you are viewing the contents in active glasses.
using the passive ones will solve your query to a lot of extent and you will overcome all your problems using the passive tech.

3D viewing is fun, but some persons have an in-built disability to view in stereoscopic-vision - that is 3D images. Even for the fortunate among us who can enjoy 3D, the choice of the technology that you chose could have a bearing on your health - as some scientific studies have pointed out. Of the two types of 3D technolgies available today - active and passive, the active method is associated with certain health risks. The shutter glasses can give rise to uncomfortable flicker, and in worst cases, may lead to epileptic seizures. Not to mention the electromagnetic radiation. For these reasons, many buyers are opting for the passive 3D Technology - used by LG 3D TV in India.

I agree with your point regarding the cons of the shutter glasses and pros of the passive glasses. I would like to update you that it's not only LG but Toshiba is also using the passive tech in their 3D TVs. If we talk at the global level, we have three brands LG, Vizio and Toshiba.
Panasonic is also set to launch their passive 3d TVs but It will take a bit of time to reach them in India.
