HDD Partitions needed or not?

Umm I have absolutely no idea about ubuntu and how it does it.

Actually I will let it rest now. I will be installing Ubuntu only in July so I will wait till then for my queries. I am sure I wont remember everything till then. I hope the fast track on ubuntu is of some help.

well, here is the example of how partitions should be in your case.

Regarding how Ubuntu does it? This should give you a good idea although it is an old guide. And it is NOT difficult as some might say. I'm saying this from a normal users perspective.

I just got a new PC with a 1TB HDD. I do not know how to make partitions in the HDD and dont know the benifits of the same. Hence havent made any.

So I want to know if it is essential to make partitions in the drive?

Ans: It will be always better to make some partitions in drive for data safety and also for system performance. Which OS do you have?
