HDD incorrect detecting

Right off the assembly line
When I connect my Samsung 80GB HDD in my motherboard it show an incorrect information Manufacture - Sa[]^g0000, Size 217GB. I haved Changed my HDD cable after that also the same problem continuous. If this is a motherboard problem so anybody can tell me what component in my motherboard causing the problem.

There might be problem with the Ports or the Cable(sometimes, simple dust will cause problems like this). I had this problem once, and the HDD cable was the culprit. I changed the cable and everything was back on track. Try switching HDD to other ports, if that didn't work, Try another HDD and check if it is gets detected.

And, is this HDD a primary HDD or a Secondary one?

i have experienced HDD cable problem (PATA cable getting twisted) & size was shown as ~16Gb for a 250Gb drive but in OP's case the capacity has almost tripled. which is kind of strange.
