Hdd active partition size (c:)

i wanted to know that if i have my active partition size small will my computer perform better? many of my friend says to keep the c: drive small where windows is installed. my active partition size in 40gb.
i am using 40gb ata and a 160 gb sata2 drive. my sata2 has the active partion.

but if ur c:40GB not a problem
just keep the last 10 GB free

Sysfilez if ur using Win XP den i dont think u need dat large a partition.U can easily bring it down to 25GB.Make a separate parititon for installing apps if u like.
