Hello all. I've a 1TB Buffalo HDD. It somehow doesn't get recognised on my Sony EX550 tv. What is the error? Is it not compatible or something?

^^using windows drives with capacity more than 32gb can only be formatted with ntfs because of practical problems(like increased cluster size etc).fat32 is not recommended for bigger drives even if certain softwares can create larger than 32gb fat32 drives.

BMG ftw!!
Oh. Is it advisable to convert to FAT32 then and try?

You can't. Don't use FAT32 as it won't let you store any file sized more than 4 GB.
Actually due to this problem FAT16/32 isn't used any more.
FYI the max supported file size of known type of file systems (only which I can remember now :p ) :
FAT16 (Win9x/ME): 2GB
FAT16 (WinNT): 4GB
FAT32: 4GB
NTFS: 16ExB (practically 2TB)

You can try exFAT though, which supports 125PB (forgot the actual number) in a single file. But the big question is whether Windows support exFAT or not. Can anybody enlighten?

^^exFAT is developed by Microsoft but support by 3rd parties is still very poor because of various MS restrictions.:) @op should try creating a 30gb fat32 drive in 1tb hdd & see if it works.
