Get KMPlayer. It's the best for all type of files. Heck even better than VLC player.
I agree. I don't why it is not so popular. It is SO SO good. If you don't want to try KMPlayer, give GOMPlayer a try. But for God's sake, don't use VLC (don't flame me).

Are you using CoreAVC?

A celeron D 2.4 should be okay for upto 720p content. It may not be able to handle 1080p comfortably.

You can try using the CCCP codec pack. It works pretty well for me. Comes bundled with MPC.

VLC also works fine for me. (Why is VLC bad??)

Sorry for bumping into this thread. I have a good configuration with respect to processor and RAM but I have a CRT monitor. Do I need to have an LCD monitor to get the full effect of HD stuff? I don't have sufficeint money to buy an LCD now. :(

CRT monitor will do fine, as long as you can set a resolution of 1280x720 or higher on it. :)
HD is 720p onwards ie. 720p, 1080i and 1080p.

What about settings of 1024*768? Will this suffice? Once I adjust the settings to 1280*720 my video screen on the monitor shrinks vertically. Do I have to adjust the monitor menu screen for left and right width?

Use KMPlayer. When the video is playing, press the * button in the numpad to see different aspect ratios.

If it doesnt play in KMPlayer, your system cant handle the load.

Can someone please clarify whether I need to have an LCD monitor to experience the real HD stuff. Whether I would not be able to find the same experience on a CRT Monitor?
