Have You Used Hyperterminal

I have Windows XP Pro SP2 installed in my computer. My brother has Win 98 SE on his computer. I wanted to share some files. I wanted to use my telephone line to do that. I used Hyperterminal. But I got very slow speed (18-30 Kbps). It took abot half an hour to share 2.5 Mb files. How speed can Hyperterminal be and how can speed be increased??

PS: We (Me and my bro) live in the same city in different houses (about a Km apart)..............

I don't get you..........
Could you clearify what you are trying to ask...............

He is right!!! Hyperterminal cant transfer data at more than 30 - 35 kbps.

are you on a 33.3 kbps modem ???

i have a 56.6 kbps modem and i got 40kbps the last time (about 3 months ago) when i connected using hyperterminal.
