ITS A STRONG POSIBILITY THAT UR CARD IS CORRUPTED TOO....SO FIRST INSTALL LATEST DRIVERS....THEN RUN MEMTEST86 FOR BAD RAM COZ SOMETIMES ITS ALSO A PROBLEM OF BAD RAM THEN CHECK UR DISPLAY CARD .

I have something else to say. It seems more like a physical problem than one with the software. I am so confident because it had happened to me. The earthing system in my house was faulty and i did not use a UPS or something like a voltage stabilizer. But after repairing the earthing system and using the UPS, this problem disappeared. So maybe you can check for these problems.

Uninstall Drivers of your Video Adapter.
Open the cabinet and remove the card.
Clean his contacts with a help of dry cloth.
Remove the dust on your motherboard with the help of blower or paint brush.
Also remove the ram and clean his contacts.
Check the both cabinet and cpu fans for their speed.
Then fit all the things on their place and close the cabinet.
Install the latest drivers available on the adapter's website.
If all the above failed to help you then your video adapter or motherboard is must be malfunctioning - Contact your vendor.
If this works you plz do tell me.

yesterday i got fedup with this problem and opened up the cabinet
when i removed the heatsink i found that the white heatsink compound i applied months back, had turned dry and absolute black!!
i cleaned it and applied the compound again and turned on my computer.. and it's been 2 days and the computer is working fine.. lets see if this thing continue to work like this...

i have to reinstall Xp and 98
Xp is running but has become very slow, due to corrupted files and 98 is just failing to boot!!

but it's still better than getting a new processor or mobo(as i feared)
