hanged pc after logged in

This is prob of my friend, as he says



Prob. most of time after logged in ( from 3 month). computer hangs. now a
days computer failed to boot from XP cd.
Configaration--
Processor-Intel P4 3.0 Mhz HT
Mobo- Original 915 GVWB
512 MB RAM
Samsung combo
400 w i ball SMPS
XP
worked---
Format many time and reinstall XP even from another cd of XP, change SMPS,HDD,RAM,COMBO(B4 failed to boot from XP cd), but prob unchange


please tell me what to do

Weird, why doesnt the XP disc boot? Usually, DVD drives show problems booting up CDs, like my Samsung reads an XP disc fine but my BenQ doesnt. But what is your error?

i set up 1st boot device as cd rom and second is hdd.

but it boot from hdd but not from cd

Does the pc boot from any other Boot CD (other than XP) say DOS Boot CD or boot Cd created from rescue disks / win98 etc.

Remove the HDD temporarily and see if the system boots from XP cd and / or any other DOS/Win98 rescue Boot Cd.

Does your mobo provide any feature / option in POST screen to bring up the boot menu even before the BIOS initiates its boot sequence? If available, select CDROM and see what happens..

hi,first check the following things
1.ide cable that connects mobo to hdd is fine or not
2.is ur xp cd nice or not
3.check for ur mobo's ide port functioning

See if the CD is corrupt,i don't thin there is problem with your HDD.
Try different boot CD.

Sorry 4 that mistake.
