Friends I have just now started GTA 4.The game always starts at 30-35 fps but after a 1-2 minute the fps drops between 8-13.Inside my house or at restaurants only the fps goes between 40-50.I ran the in game benchmark .This was the result.(I have installed patch 1.0.7.0_

Legend Never Ends
Happens to all. The FPS automatically goes up when inside any building, etc. But outside there are many things to render- so many buildings, water, etc
Nothing to be worried off

IS the Vsync off? If not turning it off should improve things

But the benchmark shows better performance.
Yes Vsync is off. After almost 3 hours I have got the settings on which the game works on 30 FPS.
But still anybody knows any way to better the fps?
Want to know if installing icenhancer mod hampers fps badly?

reduced af to 4.

Lost-One

Lost In Myself
well u can have better fps if u just put the Shadow Quality a little low and if u put the Reflection Resolution ,Water Quality then u would have more better fps as for water quality it doesn't matter even if its low cuz u wont notice much difference and better fps...

GTA 4 is unpredictable in terms of performance.

They say the best patch is 1.0.4.0. Try your luck with it. Dumb down every setting to medium/low and hope for the best.

Broken In
-play with high not very high.
-change reflections and shadows to medium
-lower the view distance and distance detail as they take up huge memory because the game will have to render buildings and its detail accordingly.

u will get around 8-10 fps increase maybe more.
