Re: Graphocs Card Upgrade

Go for these cards:
4. nVIDIA GT240 -- 4350
3. ATi 5550 -- 4400
2. ATi 5570 -- 4800
1. ATi 5670 -- 5200
But what monitor do you have???
I think 5670 will bottleneck ur CPU.

In order to make sure the GPU & other components run properly inside your CPU. i will recommend you to get a SMPS first, instead of GPU.

FSP Saga II 500w - 2.2k

GPU : refer post#4 by saswat.

Sapphire 5670 is good, but doesn't fit your budget.

Re: Graphocs Card Upgrade

well, if you want to play GTA IV, you'll have to spend cash. Both on a new PSU and HD 5670.

I think 5670 will bottleneck ur CPU.
no, it won't. :| I suppose you meant "your CPU will bottleneck the GPU."

Athlon II X2 is slightly faster with much lower power consumption and on-par with Core 2 Duo E7xxx. And HD 5670 is on-par with 8800GT.

Heck, in the old days many people used E7xxx + 8800GT, so why will Athlon II X2 + HD 5670 lead to any bottleneck? :)

@OP: Now its quite clear that, your current PSU can't handle a 5670.

As ico suggested..

Save cash & get it. happy Gaming.

My recommendation is FSP Saga II 400w @ 2k as it gives you some more headroom IF you want to get even better graphics card in future.

but 350w will run completely fine too as Athlon II X2 is a very low power consuming processor.

Lastly like we always say, avoid Cooler Master, Intex, Zebronics, VIP etc.

His system (including 5670;excluding 9400GT) will take around 200-220W on full load which will be lesser than what his 9400GT system takes up.

@ico his budget is a problem.

FSP Saga II 350W @1.5k
Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 512MB @4.5k

Total --> 6k
(still overshoots by 1k)

But if he can extend his budget, then by all means FSP Saga II 400W @2k is a good buy for an even better GPU addition in the future.

Actually HD 5670 doesnt require a special PSU.Its maximum power draw is just 75W and it doesnt even need a power connector.I ran my HD 5670 in local PSU for months.I upgraded my PSU only after I bought new board TA785G3 HD.

Its not a recommendation but just an information.Dont blame me if your GPU fails
by using in local PSU
