If you can extend your budget Rs400 more then you can get a 512 MB DDR3 8600GT graphics card from XFX or Sparkle. Go for the Sparkle one. Its price is little less and service is good.

Get 9500 GT 512 MB DDR2 for Rs 3200-3500, its better than 8600 GT and plays all newer games at medium settings. I have it and i was able to play COD4, Crysis Warhead, Left 4 Dead, Far Cry 2 at medium high settings with decent FPS

Hey your are wrong
I have XFX 8600GT 256MB DDR3 its way better than 9500GT 512MB DDR2
it runs COD 4 (High settings 1440x900)/Crysis (High Settings (1152x864)/Far Cry 2 (High Settings 1440x900) Tomb Raider Latest( High Settings 1440x900)
FlatOut UC (High settings 1440x900) GTA SA (High Settings 1440x900)
NFS MW(High Settings 1280x1024)

you go for DDR3 versions because it always give you more shader clock/memory data rate = more performance... :)

^Offcourse DDR3 is anyday better than DDR2.

8600GT and 9500GT both are having 32 stream processors, but memory speed of a 8600GT is 1450/1600 MHz compared to 1000/1200 MHz of 9500 DDR2. So it performs better than 9500GDDR2. If u get a 9500 GDDR3 then u can go for it.

At the price range u mentioned, u won't get a good ATI card. My suggestion is go for Nvidia. if u can get a 9600GT 512MB DDR3 then that will be gr8 buy since u can play most of the games in good resolution with reasonable frame rate. It will cost u around
Rs4500 to 5000.
