Guys suggest me a graphics card for around 30 k. It can be either a single card or a dual card SLI or crossfire. Currently i am thinking of buying two Zotac 9800GTX+ which retails for around 14,300 bringing the total cost to around 28,600. Any other suggestions?

Get 2 HD4850s from ATI. They will blast away in Crossfire.

Should set you back by Rs 11,950 x 2...!

9800GTX has been found to perform better than the HD4850 according to a review.

as, of now there isnt a single game that u cant run at max detail @ 1600*1200 or 1680*1050 on an HD 4850
or wait a bit for the 4870 X2 which will pwn 280GTX and still be cheaper.

as of now, the HD 4xx series is at same price as that of HD 3xx when it was launched, so 4870 will be launching at same price as X2 3870 when it was released, so expect it at around 25k.

^^ HD4870 is priced at 19.5 K. (512MB DDR5)

better get a HD4850 x 2 ( or HD4870 x 2, if you can get it from abroad, i think its priced relatively lesser there)

I got a PS3 guys. i want a decent graphics solution for my PC.i want to play crysis at 1920*1200 on my 24" monitor. i know its a bit unrealistic even with two 9800GTX+ but i can't afford the GTX280.

HD 4870 X2 is just killing every competitor. The only setup that seems somewhat eligible up for a challenge is the 4870 crossfire, but the X2 is cheaper too @ 500$.

So, get it as soon as it is available and as u can see it even beats GTX 280 SLI too in some benches while it keeps an avg of 40~60% faster than a single GTX 280.
So it shud be soon available for under 30k in here.

similiar case with me too. I want a graphics card + mobo in 40k for crysis at 1680*1050 on 22". Unfortunately there is no such system. 9800GTX SLI is way too costly in India and SLI mobos crash on videos, incompatible with xonar (I think they fixed this) and have overheating NBs and hence can't oc a cheap procy like e8200. So SLI mobos are ruled out.
Lets see crossfire....
Crossfire is expensive with 4850 and not vfm and it cant handle crysis @ 1680*1050. 4870 cf is outside the budget. Best is to get a p45 mobo + 9800gx2, its better than all crossfires and a single 280gtx in crysis and doesnt suffer from sli mobo problems. This is for 1680*1050. But it still stutters under heavy activity. Lots of fps drops in later levels.
You want to play crysis on 24" 1920 res. Thats impossible. So wait for some progress in graphic cards.

HD 4850 CF churn 36.4 on 1920*1200....vhigh
and HD 4850 CF costs less than 20k now.

9800GX2 costs 30k+ and churns 39.9fps, just 3.5fps ahead of the 20k CF.
U can get 40~45fps avg @ 1680*1050 for any of these configs in Crysis. Or the HD 4870 X2 will just spoil everythin else. 9800GX2 is bit faster than it...only in Crysis. Have a look at other games, 9800GX2 comes nowhere near 4850 CF or HD 4870 X2.

also the 4870 X2 boasts that it dun micro-stutter as other multi GPU setup does even if the fps is way above normal.

Just get a HD4870 for around 15K to 16K.
Later, if you are not satisfied, add either a HD4850 or a HD4870 extra in crossfire.

Unlike SLI, CrossFire can combine these two similar but different cards.

You check the same link you provided. It has fps @ 16080*1050 too. For convenience, I am posting them here-
1. 9800gx2 - 48.8 (25.44% faster than 4870x2)
2. 8800gt SLI -46.1 (18.5% faster than 4870x2)
3. 4870x2- 38.9
4. 4870 - 35.6

4870x2 maybe giving awesome framerate in games which are already playable at highest settings in nvidia cards. Crysis is the most demanding game and it is unable to handle it well although its better than 38xx series. When I buy cards I see the number games I can play smoothly and not framerates. With 4870x2 I will be unable to play crysis smoothly.
Also note that anandtech didn't use all very high settings.

So 4870x2 will be worth buying if it costs less than 9800gx2 in India or if you don't care about crysis. When 30k is spent, the card should be worth it and should give acceptable performance in all games. Giving ownage fps in one and poor fps in other game destroys the vfm.

There is still hope for 4870x2 though. Looking at the 9.3% scaling of 4870, we can say there is huge room for improvement. AMD during 38xx days, kept improving fps in games in which it already had won and didn't care about the games in which it sucked very bad. Hopefully, they won't repeat those defensive tactics and go for an all out kill in all games.
