graphic card problem

In the zone
my friend got a new nvidia 8600gt 512mb ddr2 graphic card,
but he has a strange problem. he has a branded lenovo ideacentre k200 computer, his computer supports pcie x16 graphic card ,
but a strange problem occurs when he inserts his graphic card in his computer, his computer does not show the login screen i.e.the accounts does not come up.
but windows boots successfully until the login screen, without the accounts. so he could not proceed to his desktop,

well,it seems that the bios is set to default wid the onborad graphix.
u can try going into the bios,and modifying the default display(may be there as"Display Init") to pci express,and not onboard.
keep us posted....

^^I dont think thats the problem.. He says it boots till the login screen.

but he says he inserts the card.
now bro,when can u use both IGP and addon graphix in tandem widout running into probs,other than hybrid sli/crossfire stuff?

^^He didn't mention that his computer works fine with IGP.

hmmmm...so we need more informstion.
but,dont u think its got sumthng to do wid the bios?
IMO,he needs to try the card on another pc to make sure the card itself is okay!
then,we can hav a definite point to focus on....

If in case he didn't see the computer boot in until the login screen, then he has to change the settings in BIOS and make the computer's default display out to PCIe. Otherwise its someother problem. I really don't think there is a problem with the graphics card too.
