I got two modules of following configuration:
DIMM, 512MB, DDR2, PC5300, CL5, 667MHz.
Sadly i currently have a 915 mobo (with a P4 2.66GHz processor). Suggest me an upgrade so that i am able to utilize this RAM to the max. I may also want to upgrade my CPU sometime later, so keep that in mind.
One more thing, My budget is around 5000/- and i like to play games. So it should ideally have good onboard graphics and atleast a 5.1 surround sound support. I have heard of a foxcon mobo with ATI chipset which seemed to suit my needs but cant remember the model name. Look at that too or suggest some other mobo.

Rs 5000 is too less for an upgrade, you will get either a processor or a mobo, not both. Your processor is powerful enough for most application, so no need of changing it. Instead get a good graphics card - you can get card of decent performance at around Rs 7000. Since you are a gamer, you will not be satisfied with onboard graphics.

P4 2.66GHz
915 mobo
1 GB DDR2 RAM
A good graphics card.

Thats a pretty good configuration for you to last another 2 years. Trust me.

I think i will go for this:
*in.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=194&model=1251&modelmenu=1
I am only looking for a mobo upgrade. It should support the future conroe cpu's too.

U should get "MSI 915P/G Combo" .. it's basically ur 915 with ddr2 support , with a hell lot better performance i think .. and should be well under 5k's .. i think around 4k's ...

I'd personally suggest this one if u want a cheap performing upgrade , ...

I have a 667MHz RAM. This one supports just 533. Morover if i decide to go for Core2duo in future this will again be a problem. Show me a board better than the one i have in mind for my price range.

oops!! sorry guys, I forgot 915 doesn't support DDR2.

These are the mobos that supports conroe:

Asus P5LD2-VMSE = Rs 4950
Gigabyte GA-945GM-S2 = Rs 5100
Gigabyte GA-945-MRZ = Rs 4450
Intel D965RY = Rs 7200

But I can't gurantee you their availability.

get a 965/975 based mobo....coz it will be futureproof....

In today's age there is nothing called future proof. By the time you decide to get a new CPU, you will find the mobo you bought back then to make your PC "futureproof" is already outdated.
