Google is planning to release the next-generation Nexus tablet by the end of April this year. Digitimes reports that ASUS is making the upcoming Google Nexus 8 tablet and as its name suggests, the device may be featuring an 8-inch display.
According to the report, the decision of releasing an 8-inch tablet by Google is the result of poor sales of the Nexus 7 2013 edition due to tough competition in the 7-inch segment. Google has reportedly only sold around 3 Million units of the Nexus 7 till December 13th.
The report further claims that Google is planning to initially ship around 2 million units of the Nexus 8 after launch, citing reliable sources in the supply chain. If the report is to be believed, we expect ASUS to offer it with calling facility as well as a faster Snapdragon SoC for fast performance.
