hey people...

i use all kind of downloading software like getright/torrents n stuff..
when these are active i can surf the net but it feels like 1 33kbps connection as all the bandwidth is being used by the downloading software..

is there any way to giving my browser more priority over internet access so that when i want to google earth or voice chat or watch streaming videos then i dont have to close my downloading sftware.. i have a 256 kbps broadband..

I dont know how this could be done but would changing the programs priority in task manager effect the internet usage priority..

All those with bb suffer with this problem.

Like..if u have a 256 unlimited, ull like to download and browse simultanesly..but the browsing speed will be low as bandwidth is allocated more by the download manager..

Easy solution is Netlimiter from *www.netlimiter.com/

though its a trialware for 28 days, its a good option to work into..

it allows us to allocate limits and grants for each application

for eg, if u have 256kbps unlimited line, set the download limit of ur downloadmanager to 26kBps and leave the rest free so that browsers or others can use rest 6KBps..

Hope it helps

well getright also allows to set speed limits and i am too comfey with it.

i know netlimiter.
but my problem is to prioritiz the internet connection.. not allocate it. i mean whenever IE/Opera needs to access the net it gets the higest priority and i dont have to keep setting max for different software.. besides torrents rarely download at full speed. But due to the hundreds of connections internet becomes slow i think.

hey guys how do u think that can be theoratically possible..

i have studied some networking and know that each packet of data on a tcp/ip network has priority bits in it. may be a software can be made for this purpose...

and does setting high priority in task manager increase anyother priority other then CPU usage? like disk access/internet access

No it doesnt... cant figure out a way but my browser gets good speeds whilst using torrents, I just limited its amount of connections...

Perfect Perfect Perfet
It is BLOODY PERFECT and it even speeds up my downloading from 30kbps to 48kbps. DAMN!
sweet and easy to setup.. smooth...

NOw i can do torrent/DM downloads at fullspeed and surf/watch video without shutting down torrents/DMs or limiting their speed.

while i type this message vista is being downloaded at 48kbps by getright and as soon as i press the "post" button it i just like the whole connection is dedicated to this action.
