hi all !

i need a graphics card for my old [2008] Dell machine. geforce 8300GS was pre-installed in it [now dead]. Now its on on-board graphics.

machine: Dell Inspiron 530
purpose: mainly for HD video playback. games are secondary.
budget: INR 3k-4k

i had shortlisted GeForce GT 520 1 GB. as it is budget card.
will this justify my purpose? and i want to know the current price of this card. any other sugestion are apriciated.

GT 520 1GB is ok for HD playback but as per gaming performance it is crap and over priced. If you can spend 4K, then get a Sapphire HD 5670 512 MB @ 4.1K

within 4k, gt240 & HD5570 are best you can get. if you are interested in gaming go with Cilus's suggestion.

Sam, GT 240 is not below 4K, it is little over 4K and there is no point to go for it as it is missing a lot of features for decoding Bluray contents or any kind of HD playback present in Fermi architecture.
Amit, get the HD 5670 1 GB from XFX @ 4.3K or the 512 MB @ 4K
