Game for Life
Hey guys,

Need some suggestions here.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')

Ans:[P]roject Cars, Call of Duties (not played any since Black Ops 2), Dirt Rally, Farcry 4, Unreal Tournament 4 (when it comes out)

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.

Ans: 30K (+2K)

3. Planning to overclock?

Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?

Ans: Windows 8.1, will update to Windows 10

5. How much hard drive space is needed?

Ans: WD 1TB. SSD not required.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.

Ans: No. Already have Samsung 22" FHD.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?

Ans: Mouse Keyboard and Speakers

8. When are you planning to buy the system?

Ans: Within 2 weeks

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?

Ans: Yes

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?

Ans: Kolkata. Buying locally. Prices are lower than online.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?

Ans: Want to game at 1080p at high settings.

Guys, thanks for your prompt responses. Would like to know a few more things.

If stretch my budget and go for R9 270X / GTX 960, is it worth the extra cash, given that I pair it with the same processors that you guys have suggested.

Thanks

You should go with GTX 960 only with extra cash as it is completely worth it.

Local market prices here at Kolkata usually is 10% lower than online prices after including VAT.

You won't be able to play at high 1080p on 750Ti. With GTX 960, probably. Extend a little but more, do some bargaining and you could get a GTX 970 for around 22k. 60 fps 1080p high is guaranteed on that beast.

Hey guys i was wondering isnt the pentium g3258 cpu available in india?
That would be a good option at this price given that it supports overclocking on some cheaper motherboards
If it is available please also provide a link

You sure about the WD blue price? The one is on snapdeal is of 16mb cache.

I'm trying to get the price from CTC Secunderabad, but unable to find any WD blue drives here.May be whole CTC is in short of WD Blue drives. :)

I don't think GTX 960 comes in his Budget..

R9 270x is slightly better than 750ti..

For 960 every penny is worthy.

GTX 960 easily plays 1080p gaming, but mid-high settings and at veryhigh-Ultra with playable fps. I don't think GTX 970 will get him for 22k..

Hey guys,

Bought the PC last weekend. The config is highly deviated from what you guys suggested (Don't get angry ). I completely went to the "Red" camp and I am totally satisfied with the results (have never gamed on PC with 1080p max/ultra settings, so it is pretty exciting for me).

AMD FX-6300 processor
Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 motherboard
Sapphire R9 270X Dual-X 2GB graphics card
Corsair Vangeance 2x4GB memory
WD Green 1TB HDD
Antec VP550P PSU
Antec 4000B-U3 cabinet
LG DVD-RW drive

I was able to wrap this around 40K with VAT.

Spent some money on a good case and PSU, because had some bad experience previously. A good case, besides from advantage of better heat dissipation, also adds to the aesthetics of the build and justifies the expensive components inside it.

And used a cheapo Frontec PSU in my last PC, destroyed two of my Seagate HDDs.
