1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Only Gaming. Crysis, Company of Heroes, Football Manager, Simcity (All strategy), GTA V (its six months away ,anyways :p)

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:30. Planing to get a cpu without graphics card for 30k this month and a good card in two months. So kindly suggest a card for 15k extra.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans:Win 7, Win 8 in future

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans:I already have a 1 TB internal & 1 TB external. I don't think i need more space. Can add with demand.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: No. Have a 1080p 23" Samsung monitor.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans:I am planing to reuse my 1TB HDD, monitor and 2.1 speakers.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: with this month

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans:No. Assembler will do.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:Chennai. I am open to suggestions. I am okay until the products i buy have necessary warranty stuff.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: Have a xbox, so i ll be playing PC exclusive in PC, others in xbox (For online purpose presently and move to PC when the next gen consoles are announced).

Since you mentioned no overclocking, here is what i will recommend

Intel Core i5 3550 12.5k
Gigabyte B75 D3H 4k
Gskill Ripjaws X 2x4GB Ram 2.8k
Corsair GS 600 4.4K
LG 24X DVD Writer .9k
Corsair Carbide 400R 4.2k
Total roughly 28.5k

Now youa re left with almost 16-17k for GPU In which i would suggest going for HD 7870 Ghz edition GPU !

else
SAPPHIRE GRAPHICS CARD HD 7870 2GB DDR5 GHz EDITION

Thank you for the responses. The build looks nice.

I have some noob doubts.

I see some 600W PSU (Zebronics) for jus 2.5k. Whats is difference?
Isnt the 7870 better than the 7850 (mentioned by Chaitanya)?
Whats the major differences between the mobo recommended by you and the other high end mobos(Z77 chipset)?

1. Zebronics is local brand. Local brands tend to go 'boom' anytime.

2. 7950 (Chaitanya mentioned 7950) is better at maxing out games at 1080p than 7870.

3. Its a waste of money buying a Z77 board that comes with OC-friendly features and yet not be able to use them due to non-K chip limitation (like your i5 3550). B75 boards are watered-down versions of the mainstream H77 boards, targeted at the budget-conscious users.

Elite 311 is a bad case, and should only be used in the most basic of the configs, corsair 400r is a very good investment and will last him many many years without needing to upgrade, while taking 311 is essentially a waste !

But yeah hd 7950 is better than hd 7870 obviously but let op decide he wats a better cabinet and balanced config or cheap out on the cabinet for ~10-20% gain at most in fps.

Oh my bad, i misread 7950 as 7850. I don't know which one to choose. Right now I am fixed with 7870.
And following your replies i would opt for Corsair cabinet.

What is the reason you guys recommend AMD card over nVidia?

Another good option is to go for NZXT Gamma for 2.4k and add remaining 1.5-2k to gpu budget and get gtx 660ti !

Man GTX 660ti aint worth it..
Now a days GPU isn't solely meant for GFX but also for other compute related tasks & here HD 7950 kills GTX 680 even

@19k gtx 660ti is completely worth it, and even with low compute performance nv cards are still very good at providing decent enough fps to play and not to mention at 19k there is no direct competitor of gtx 660 ti as hd 7950 which is a bit better is aimed at gtx 670 and hd 7870 which is a tad slower than gtx 660ti is aimed at gtx 660 non ti !

so thats why i gave that option otherwise my initial suggestion has been an amd card !

Thank you for all the replies.
Its 7870 or 7950. Im not going to get the card now. Its two months away. So then i ll decide which one to get.
Which card is the best for gaming purpose(jus gaming @1080)?

Is it really worth to buy a card for 25k?
My idea was, instead of buying approx 25k+ card every 2.5 or 3 (max) years, its better to get 15 to 20 k card for 1 or 1.5(max) years. Whats ur opinion on this?

P.S: Spending big everytime is not affordable for me.:|

19k for GTX 660Ti? He could shell out 2k more and get the 7950 as listed above.
See your logic is flawed !
for 19k gtx 660ti is a very good option, like you said he can add 2 more k and get hd 7950, similarly he can add another 2-3k and get the basic gtx 670 which will again be better than hd 7950 a bit !

his budget was not 20+ for a gpu by any means thats why i suggested gtx 660ti and not hd 7950 ;)

Man if i were there then i would select 7870 or 7950...

I did suggest hd 7870 at first ^^
but if he is able to save some more money by taking cheaper cabinet like nzxt gamma then i suggested to go for gtx 660 ti which is just 2k over hd 7870 and will be in budget as he will save approx 2k by going for gamma which he can inturn divert to gpu budget !
