Gaim thro proxy.....HELP!

I have installed Fedora Core 3 in one of my college systems

My college Internet connection for clients is thro proxy.......

Usually I access the net in browser by configuring the browser (Firefox)

Tools -- > Options -- > General -- -> Connection settings --> Manual Configuration (Same proxy for all protocols)

Http Proxy: 129.0.0.120 Port: 3128

And I can access the net and is working fine

BUT........

Coming to gaim....

I could not connect thro proxy.......

Even If I set all those proxy options correctly in gaim (for IRC)......
It shows connecting forever.........

I tried Opera Even in that even after setting proxy option though I can access the net I could not connect to the irc channel........

Help me!!!!!!!

Even I could connect Yahoo! messenger by setting proxy in it!!

You may have to configure your proxy server. It is probably not relaying yahoo/irc port connections i.e. refusing connections on port other than http/80 .

Yahoo messenger client can use http/80 port to connect to its notification server. But i think GAIM cannot do it. What is the exact error message that GAIM throws to you?

I enabled port 6667 in squid

In server when I choose HTTP

Error is : proxy server forbids port 6667 tunnelling
