Formatting External Drive Partition

Hi, I have an external drive, and I would like to backup my HD movies. But the problem is that the partition in the external drive are FAT32, which cannot store more than 4gb per file. So, I want to know how I exactly I can format the partitions to NTFS without any data loss.

in command prompt type this

Code:
convert z: /fs:ntfs

where z is d drive letter assigned 2 ur ext drive

uner ideal circumstances u shudnt lose ne data in this conversion process

Go to computer management>Storage>Disk management here you should see the disk provided you have attatched it to pc
