Stabbing my shoe
Hi! Guys
Plz help me. I have a few problems in Firefox..
> I use Deer Park Alpha 1 (the latest Firefox)
1) Since, one or two days, alll the pages opened in Firefox start moving. That is the screen is OK, but only the page starts moving like an earthquake.
2) Secondly, all my Bookmarks have disappeared by itself.
3) The History is scheduled for 9 days before dispappearing. But it disappears the moment the computer is shut down..
Is it some virus or something??
Plz help..

Search for a file bookmarks.html on your PC. if you find it put it in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Appllication Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default (Win 2000/XP/NT/2003)

or

C:\Windows\Appllication Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default (Win 9X)

For complete solution of any Firefox Problem delete the Profiles folder (above given) and reinstall Firefox but only after backing up bookmarks.html and cookies.txt.

Well, its good though... But my problems have not been solved. When I found the Bookmarks.bak and Bookmarks.html they only contained default bookmarks. Mroeover, the screen continues to jump around.. and I reinstalled (at a new location) it after uninstalling yet the same problem..

Hi ,

I actually did not have the patience to wait for your reply, so I went ahead and downloaded it .

But fortunately I do not face any such problem as you said.

But I face an even NASTY problem.

Every time I am doing some important work , the Firefox agent configuration window pops open , as a result windows thinks an error has occured and closes all the remaining browsers. Any body aware of how to disable this Firefox agent.

Thanks.

Siddhartha did you delete the Profiles folder. It is very imp. step.

@godsownman - to disable that agent, uninstall firefox and then while reinstalling choose Custom Option while installing and deselect Quality feedback Agent.

Well, the first time I did not do it..
The second time.. I unistalled everything.. Then did a search of every file and folder with the name of "mozilla", "firefox" and "deer park", etc. etc.
Everything got cleared and then I reinstalled everything and now there is no problem...

Help me please! Today I formatted and installed Windows with Firefox 1.5.02. No other software is currently installed on my PC. Now I can't access most of the websites which I used to access earlier with no problem. I'm getting redirected to a webpage called "SMARTFILTER". It says with a big STOP, You cannot access the following Web address:

The site you requested is blocked under the following categories: Malicious Sites, Criminal Skills

You can:
Temporarily override filtering on this computer if you have an override name and password. (Note that your administrator may be notified that you've bypassed filtering.)

Use your browser's Back button or enter a different Web address to continue.
Can someone please help me out here? Why most of the sites though it is neither porn nor criminal, I'm not able to access?

Have u tried to add some plugin(like flash or rm) without actually downloading it from the net? (ie. copying it from ur previous install). If yes, the delete all the files in the plugin folder in FF dir. (except npnul32.dll, its the default file)

Try a stable release such as 1.5.0.2

Deer Park is beta.

I'm already using Firefox 1.5.0.2 I updated it through its site using Help - Check for Update Option, and I'm having the same problem with IE6. Please help me getting rid out of this ******* SMARTFILTER.

Try removing the mozilla folder in Documents and Settings/username/Local Settings/Application data/mozilla.

Replace username with your username....
