Hi guys,

I finally bought my PC yesterday,
I thank all the Digit members who helped me out to bring this PC to life
Here is the final configuration:-

AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+
Asus M2N PV-VM
1GB DDR2 667Mhz Transcend RAM
Viewsonic 17" TFT Moniter
iBall Workhorse Cabinet
And the usual keyboard and mouse.

no gfx card

So how much can I overclock this CPU and from where do I do this?
And is the Asus M2N PV-VM board better than the Asus M2N-MX and Asus M2N PV-MX

Congrats on your new system,a smart buy
As for overclocking,this board should be better at clocking than M2N-MX,although i have never used.Doing some reading about the various options available in the BIOS will be helpful.
One small tip,dont push Vcore too much, the IMC on Dual Core AMD CPUs is kinda sensitive to higher voltages.The Single Core A64s handled higher voltages quite well,the Dual Core is a different story altogether.
Drop the HTT Multi to 4X or 800MT whatever is the option in the BIOS. Then you can start increasing the Bus speed or HTT Bus clock.Beware of the temps of the chipset.These boards have tiny passive coolers on the chipset.Trust me Nvidia chipsets do get toasty. You would not like to screw the chipset cos of excessive heat,would you ?

And also if u set the CPu frequency to some 240 or above, then underclock ur memory as the realtime memory clocks also gets oced while increasing CPU freq.
Always memory can't handle such high clocks. If u underclock it then effective wud be close to 667. Use CPU-z to view current mem clocks at east win boot.
Also for ocing, use a quality PSU. Its very important.
And HTT speed wont influence ur performance gr8. So reduce it to gain more stability as darky said.
And do post some Everest benchy results also.

Also can u pls quote the prices which u paid for individual components?

^^ Perfectly said,i had forgotten to mention the PSU part,many a times ppl neglect what can be a very crucial component.

Having a solid PSU always helps.Trust me, i have been through that.I know how a PSU can hold you back from exploiting the full potential of your hardware while overclocking

i have a 400W intex psu,
i have not installed a gfx card,
i use 2 HDDs, a lg dvd writer, tv-tuner card, floppy drive,
is this psu enough?
and will i be able to oc with this psu?

Maybe it will pull off the load of the system at stock,but will never cut it while overclocking.

ur psu wont even take full system load if u oc ur proccy to 2.2GHz.
i faced the same prob with my 400W iBall psu.
oced my proccy to 2.6Ghz with a Frontech 500w PSU but it doesnt hav enuf juice to pull my system at full load.
shall get my Zebronics Platinu 500w 2morrow.then i'll try uc my proccy to 2.8-3.0GHz.
