'config.h' and 'config.mak' contain your configuration options.
Note: If you alter theses files (for instance CFLAGS) MPlayer may no longer
compile *** DO NOT REPORT BUGS if you tweak these files ***

'make' will now compile MPlayer and 'make install' will install it.
Note: On non-Linux systems you might need to use 'gmake' instead of 'make'.

Please check mtrr settings at /proc/mtrr (see DOCS/HTML/en/video.html#mtrr)

Check configure.log if you wonder why an autodetection failed (check whether
the development headers/packages are installed).

If you suspect a bug, please read DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html.
I have installed the Win32 dll files and codecs and skins. However it runs from command line. I compiled and made mplayer with gui support, when i try to run mplayer with
#gmplayer
i get the following errors,
*img306.imageshack.us/img306/3555/error27ko.jpg
*img318.imageshack.us/img318/2501/console14nw.jpg
*img318.imageshack.us/img318/3474/error12nz.jpg
I have compiled it on a 2.4 kernel, however i'm gonna install a new 2.6 kernel, may be it'll work then.

Ah! No difference, same with 2.6.12 kernel :(

Edit (1) : Done !! I had to just create a symlink to the truetype fonts and download and specify a skin. Swweeet!!

what graphics card do you have? run mplayer (not gmplayer) from a terminal and post the output it gives in there. also post your gui.conf. it should be in .mplayer directory in your home.

i don't think rtc should be your problem here. just to make sure, run it with "-nortc" option.

Got it working, No probs. Just had to specify
gmplayer -skin <skin name> and had to add the skins to
$HOME/.mplayer/Skins .
I previously thot may'be any dep probs, but it was just simple. Thanks :)

Installed Xine, Mplayer, xmms, Vlc in one Full Stretch. Vlc was the most dreaded of the lot. Gave me nightmares for almost 2 hrs (./configure kep failing) , b4 i tamed the beast.
Take a look at here, the entire configure script for configuring it.

./configure --enable-x11 --enable-xvideo --disable-gtk --enable-sdl --enable-ffmpeg --with-ffmpeg-mp3lame --enable-mad --enable-libdvbpsi --enable-a52 --enable-dts --enable-libmpeg2 --enable-dvdnav --enable-faad --enable-vorbis --enable-ogg --enable-theora --enable-faac --enable-mkv --enable-freetype --enable-fribidi --enable-speex --enable-flac --enable-livedotcom --with-livedotcom-tree=/usr/lib/live --enable-caca --enable-skins --enable-skins2 --enable-alsa --disable-kde --disable-qt --enable-wxwindows --enable-ncurses --enable-release

Yup VLC is the worst. As a newbie, long time back, I had tried to manually install it on my Fedora 2. Hours of fultile effort. BTW, you sticking to LFS or moving to BLFS or ELFS or custominsing as per your needs?

I'am not gonna follow any order now, just gonna experiment a lot, without screwing my system too much.
BLFS and ELFS seem to be mostly references. I'am simply skipping ahead. It had a fat GNOMe, KDE and X-Section.
As i had some knowledge of configuring X previously, that helped a lot.
