hi all,
well, i have a slight problem. Currently, i have 6+1gb partition allocated for ubuntu. however, as my development work has been increasing on it, so has my space need.

Therefore, i was able to free up about 6 more gb of space from my NTFS partitions.
i can use Norton Partition magic to shrink NTFS partitions and create 6gb of raw space, but can the current '/' partition can be expanded without data loss? or would i have to reinstall ubuntu? ( i won't mind, i have already messsed my system real bad)

I have done this kind of work successfully using gparted on about 10 machines, without data loss. But, it can never be guaranteed.

There's nothing to explain. Just plain resizing.
And only precaution that can be taken is making backups. Nothing else.
