Excel 2000 and windows XP prb

I have 2 problems:

1.Excel 2000 refuses to open in Windows 98 (though Word2000 & Access2000 run properly)
2.Booting problems in Windows XP

1. Earlier Excel 2000 worked properly but now either the system hangs or shows insufficient resources error. Repairing and reinstalling doesn’t help.

2. While booting in XP, a blue error screen displays:

“A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer....

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with manufacturer and driver update. Try changing video adaptor....

Check with your Hardware vendor for BIOS update. Disable BIOS memory option such as caching or shadowing….

After several attempts the system boots properly.
AVG 6.0 is installed for Windows 98 and Quickheal 7.0 for XP
Other s.w's installed are zone alarm, freeram xp, tweakxp pro

do those changes in the bios which u wrote earlier...and then try opening windows in safe mode and see the device manager (right click on my computer>properties>hardware tab)

if any drivers have a question mark next to them, try updating/reinstallind those drivers

also, did u recently add or change any of your hardware ?
