Error in Windows File Search

hello dudes, i m using win xp SP2 and my problem is that i cant use the "search" in my windows. whenever i searches for something the following error message pops up.

Unexpected Error
Action could not be completed.

and the popup window title is Search Companion.
Please help me..... what might be the problem and how to solve it?

it mite be cuz of spyware...

or else some spyware may have hacked your search engine .. thats a possibility too.
check for spywares/adwares in your comp.

but i use Spybot - Search & Destroy with latest updates and PC Cillin 2005 internet security.............n scan the system regularly
