Engg(Comp. Sc.) Fresher - Carrer options

Hi.
I have just completed 4 years of my engineering from UPTU, in Computer Science and Engineering.

I have a knack for coding, programming, and writing(fiction).

I gave CAT '11 and obtained 81%ile, without studying a word. I mean seriously, i filled the form, studied nothing, woke up on the day of the exam, and gave it.

Scored 96%ile in NIITs NITAT in Feb.
Scored aggregate 93.26%ile in AspiringMinds' AMCAT.

I want to know what career options do i have open for me at this point of time.
I'd like to point out that i have a VERY weak academic record, basically due to the fact that i have been too lethargic to study much, or for that matter, give university exams. So i have quite a few carry-over papers(an entire sem in one instance).

But when i say i'm good with coding, programming and writing, i mean i am GOOD. C/C++ is like second language after English. Hindi is a bit average ( :p ). And i write too, stories, and stuff.

People suggest me to go for CAT this year, but i think i want to work for 3-5 years before pursuing an MBA (which i'm determined to do, now or later, preferably after experience). As academic record is weak, i have hardly any chances to get into good colleges.

Some friends are preparing for C-DAC. Now from what i hear, 6 months of ass-grinding hard work in C-DAC will yield VERY fruitful results, if done seriously(which i am ready to do, if it pays well).

What other options and avenues do i have open for me??

try chetanasforum for job interview postings
don't give up so fast but try to get hired before 6months of your time after graduation.
Or have some excuse for the time you were without a job cause the HR people of many company's don't like slackers.

poor little me
people will keep suggesting .As you are confused now your mind will pick every other career option suggested by your friends or any other person.

so first relax for few days .Forget about your career and relax .do everything except studying and thinking.

I have a knack for coding, programming, and writing(fiction)

I think it should give you enough hint for what to do .Try some good off campus so that you can get yourself into good computer engineering firm . You are good at writing .Then why not write on your own website and for others and earn some money . Freelancing is famous these days and i know people who are earning thousands in writing in their free time.

But first relax for few days to give your mind a break.
