Some related query. I use a 9600GT .. it has DVI outputs . I use a DVI to VGA adaptor. and that runs into my monitor in its vga port. My monitor has both DVI and vga port. Just using this setup because everything was supplied in the box.
Now if i buy a DVI to DVI cable will that result in any improvement over my current setup?
I run my screen @ 1920x1080 native res. @60hz

Yes it will. DVI is digital signal, and much better quality. Stick to DVI--->DVI if source and destination both have it.

Read this. Though it is not starkly visible to the naked eye, why use analog when both devices support native DVI. Hope this helps.
