Hi Gurus,

Recently I bought a new DVD writer. While writing a DVD of 4.5 GB, it's taking a lot of time (almost 1 hr. 30 mins). How can I increase the speed of writing?
I think ideally it should take around 30 mins...

But when I burn a CD it's writing very fast (almost 8 mins).

Please guide me...

Hi,

My DVD Writer is SONY 16 x and my PC config is P4, 256 MB RAM, 160 GB HD.
I forgot the processor speed. I think it's around 700 mhz.

Hi,

I'm sure it's a P4 machine. Not sure about the processor speed...

See whether ur DMA (Direct Memory Access) is off on DVD Writer.
If its Off, turn it On.
u can write any DVD data or movie within 12 minutes.
Thank u.

mr.srimaya rath there is np p4 processor with 700 mhz. p3 itself goes upto 900 mhz. depends upon what speed is ur writer and the dvd speed. for me i have a 16x samsung writer and ariting on a 16x dvd takes around 8 mins. it maight vary if u write at 16,12,8,4,2.4 but 1:30 mins is really long.

Mr srimaya rath. i think ur processsor is P4 1700 mhz and not 700 mhz. for sony dvd writers u should always enable turbo boost by pressing the eject button for 5 secs after inserting the blank disc. Also the DMA maybe off. also dwnload the latest firmware for your writer. If your SMPS is weak, a lot of time is wasted in "power calibration" . so this might be the problem.

Yeah... Now I'm able to write all the DVDs in 7 mins...
Soln: After inserting the blank DVD in the drive hold the EJECT button for 5 sec. This is called TURBO BOOST. Thanks all for your suggestions...
