After inserting your DVD in your drive and waiting for at least 1 minute, try to access your drive. If it does not work, give us output of "dmesg" and "cat /etc/mtab" (both without quotes) commands.

What is written on this DVD? Is it a DVD with movie on it or some other data? If it is a movie DVD then try playing it with Xine instead of trying to mount it.

The dmesg output you posted...is it after you insert a movie DVD or after you inserted data DVD? Did you try to mount the data DVDs manually? You don't need to mount video DVDs and Audio CDs cos they are played without mounting.

I tried playing a DVD movie via Totem player but it gives this message
"Failed to find mountpoint for device /dev/hdb in /etc/fstab"
I tried playing a DVD movie via both ogle & oKle players. But both of them stops responding .
VLC player does nothing when I try to play.

What the hell is this problem?????
