Hi Guys,

I want to know about which DVD format is supported widely by most of the drives/vendors?

I have some important data to write on a dvd. I want to ensure that it is accessiible on most of the drives by various vendors.

I heard that DVD +R is one such format. Is it correct? Pls help.

Regards,
Amit.

Unless you are buying very cheap (less than Rs.10) DVDs, dvd-r are okay for archiving. nowadays war on dvd formats is closed and everyone seem to be fighting for blu ray & hd-dvds. DVD+R is also more. if your data is movies check compatibility with your DVD player, see which formats are supported buy that.

If you consider that the data you are going to burn is too important then dont go for anything less than sony or my favourite moserbaer-pro........Even a badly scratched moserbaer-pro DVD runs perfectly.

I bought 3x10 moser-baer DVds which costed me a total of Rs.525(around 18\piece).The DVDs are top of the line. They had two kind of moserbaer-pro DVDs-one 16\piece and the ones which I purchased.Works perfectly...even the slightly overburned ones work perfectly.
Writex 16x DVDs were selling @12\piece.
