Hello. I have a 6 month old Lenovo Y510 laptop.

The specs are 2 gb ram, 160 gb hard disc, Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo @ 1.66 GHz, 1.67 GHz.

The DVD Drive is open slot and not tray.

Some days back I played the Great Indian Rock 2007 CD on it which worked fine. However, upon replaying, it started displaying errors [Red titles] in Windows Media Player. Later it just ejected the disc. I thought it must be a damaged disc [though i did not check for it elsewhere].

Today I tried to burn an iso file with nero. When I inserted a disc, the drive made a whirring sound and within 3 seconds ejected the disc.

The same problem ccurs for ANY other disc. What might be the casue of this? Is the disc drive damaged? Or some virus on my comp can be doing this?

By the way - I have RARELY used my disc drive!

I'll be relieved if its just a virus. I'll check. This hapenned just when I uninstalled McAffee due to proxy conflicts. So might be. By the way - do you know of any such virus?

don't worry this is not an hardware problem.. (rare chance of being a hardware prob)

many people have faced this prob... including me.. this is some sort of virus..

and some very old samsung drives do this even without virus!
