i have try many s/w to convert DVD 2 VCD but all are taking too much time to convert DVD (vob file) into VCD(mpeg file). It will take 1 hr to convert 1 hr DVD in general. Is there any software available which can convert fast. Also how to cut DVD, if i want to remove some portion. In VCD we can easily cut with VCD cutter .
I am using win XP , P4-2.4 ,512 MB RAM
thanks

I don't think you can minimize the time taken for converting DVD to VCD.Since DVD
file are big & take longer time to process.

Conversion time dapends mainly on processor speed; Your PC configuration is decent enough for video-editing; you may opt for 3-3.2GHz processors but that will make marginal difference in time.

Use VideoStudio 10. Here you will find the option to "Insert DVD/DVD-VR" for inserting VIDEO_TS files. Then edit as necessary and convert to MPEG.

i used to convert when i didnt own a dvd writer and i too found that if u want a better quality the time only increases and goes upto 8 hours (for 3 hrs of a movie) however this 8 hrs can be reduced to 2 or so by compromising on the quality i.e. dvd x is the best to manipulate this setting in which u can manipulate the settings as per individuals need.
an advice which no one gave me.... if possible buy a dvd writer coz i feel sooner or later u will buy it anyhow and then u wont feel like watching these converted movies.

hi ...

I suggets u use Ahead DVD Ripper, the current version is (Ahead DVD Ripper 2.3.1) is a gr8 with DVD's . It can covert then in VCD's aswell as in other mp4 formats.

and well i dont think softwares can reduce ur convertion times by much , as it usually depends on other system factors as nil_3 pointed out
