mera kutch nahi ho sakta
First I burned a 3.7GB iso file (opensuse) @ 4x. It burned @9mb/sec !!!

next a made a general Data dvd @4x . It burned at a measly 1-2mb/sec :(

Anybody knows why? Is it a good idea to create an iso first. I am too cheap to waste DVD's to test this myself.

Thanks

For assorted files, nero[or ny s/w u r usin] has to cache it from the location where it is stored. But for iso caching on HDD is not needed. Its always fast if we burn from any image.

So will it be faster to create an image from assorted files and write than to write directly?

yes of course, but the whole procedure will take up 2x time? Its better to defragment your HDD regularly. This way reading or caching become much more faster. And also set ultrabuffer to 80 MB if u have more than 512 MB ram.

80 MB if u have more than 512 MB ram.
I have 512mb. cache size on my burning app was set to 8mb, could that be the reason for the speed .
Thanks for the post btw

Increasing buffer will increase the starting delay, but after some 4%[for 4GB+ data] itll be much faster and less prone to errors.
If u are using nero, then set some 80MB as buffer., and ya, dun forget to defrag.
