Dual Boot from Scratch

I want to totally format and re-partition my HD and install Vista and Fedora Linux. I have seen some tutorials about partitioning and a bit confused. My HD is 160 GB and I want to give around 45 GB for linux and rest for Vista. I have both Vista and Linux DVDs. Most of the tutorials about doal boot says nothing from the begining. They assume that I have Visa installed or like that. Now please tell me how to do it. Also how to go to boot screen from the DVDs where I can format or Partition my HD.
PS: I have one recovary drive or like that in my system I want it to be removed when I repartition.

Yes, thats it! Install Vista first You get an option to partition the hard disk during installation. Make partitions according to you needs and leave about 45GB in the end for linux, unpartitioned.

Ya just remember to install Vista first to save yourself from any trouble, coz Vista bootloader doesn't recognizes Fedora (although i have heard that it supports SUSE Linux, but don't have much idea). On the other hand, Fedora's Boot Loader, Grub, recognizes Windows Vista well. And as infra said, partition your drive in Vista Setup and leave the 45 GB unpartitioned. When you'll start Fedora setup, it'll give you the option to use this space.

But when I will try to partition it will give me option for primary and extended partition. Right? So I will create one primary partition (say C drive) and other one extended? and then devide the extended partition into suppose 3 and having linux installed for the last one ? Please clear me about this.

U can create extended partitions in Vista installation only after 4 primary ones. My advise is to create only one parition during install for Vista and keep all the free space unparititoned. Then you can either use the Vista disk management or use gparted or linux live CD to create extended part. and then logical parts. inside it for use in Windows as well as Linux.
