Right off the assembly line
Hi,

My PC is AMD Athlon 2600+. I found one problem since last few days that
i do not get my LG CD-RW (Model No. GCE 8520B) listed in devices and hard drives in operation system. Windows XP. It shows drivers are corrupted. I download latest version for it from LG website and every setting done said by them and then installed though my pc shows same error. I try to update drivers but failed. My PC Bios detects CD-ROM/RW properly but do not listing in OS. I also view pxhelp20.sys file in driver list for cd-rom.

Please help me.

This is the most obvious first suggestion .. try if you havent tried it yet

Uninstall all drivers related to drive.
Switch Off
Physically disconnect drive from the mainboard.
Boot.
Check for any error messages etc
Switch Off .. Connect the drive again
Wait till Windows recognizes it and asks for drivers etc
Install drivers.

thanks.

But, now i got solution for it.
There is one file in driver list of cd-rom and that is PxHelp20.sys
which can be trojan, virus or some other file, cause this problem. I found solution on internet, about this file.

First, delete this file from windows/system32/drivers and then editing registry called "upper..." and "lower..." like that because i do not remember exactly that name, but you can search in registry.
Make this registry's value blank or delete value. then, restarting of machine,

CD-Rom perfectyly works.

thanks.
