M$ gave free Visual Studio + DirectX 9 SDK + Win XP Pro in my cousins college for free some 2-3 years back. So I dont think this VS edition can be pirated.

Express Editions are Free to use, Download them from here, though u would need a Passport ID to login and download, (which is free, basically any Hotmail account is a password ID  )

VB 2005
VS 2005

Try them, though these are Feature limited, but as a student for lkearning purpose, u wont feel the need unless developming a Pro application !!!!!!

^^ If its Airtel then go for the 99 topup and download the CD from 9pm to 8am.
In BSNL 2-8 is free.
A 700MB CD will take aroung 2-3 days on a 128kbps conxn.

OR
Try asking for any college student [CSE] if M$ provided any developers CDs.
