Hi, got a question...

Want to make my PC start in the DOS mode, during bootup, and not allow the Windows OS to load. (Getting a similar interface as we get on doing Run > command from the 'Run' option from the Start button)

Don't want to use any windows startup disk in order to do this.

Is it possible?

Click Start/Run, type MSCONFIG in the 'Open' box and press enter. When the
'System Configuration Utility' opens, click the 'Advanced' button. Now check
the 'Enable Startup Menu' box selection and then click 'OK'. When the 'Advanced'
window closes, click 'Apply' then 'OK' and reboot when prompted.

this is for windows 95/98. i dont think u can start dos in win xp at boot.

Not sure but I think that if you make a partition and install DOS in it, you will get started in DOS automatically... To restore Windows booting regularly, boot with the Windows boot cd and run fixmbr...

Not sure about Norton AV, but you can use F-Prot Antivirus for DOS which is free for home use... Details at *www.f-prot.com/products/home_use/dos/
