Does the GPL need Linux more than Linux needs the GPL?

.........Linux will get along just fine without GPL version 3.0, say many readers, and there's a strong push back pretty strongly against the idea that rejecting GPL 3.0 is any kind of 'sell out'. In fact this document is loaded with legal barbs to repel all kinds of grievances.........

I sincerely hope Linus decides to stick on with GPL2. GPL3 is a complicated license and I don't see why the DRM clause is necessary.

But I do believe that the GPL (version 2) is a very good license, as it prevents someone from branching the code without contributing anything back. I doubt linux will ever go to a non GPL linux. Although I personally don't much care for Richard Stallman's moral stance, I think the GPL2 has a good number of practical benefits.

Lets Wait n Watch.. From a quote i learnt that linus hasn't approved switching to GPL3.. But lets wait and see, maybe RMS may persuade or talk with him.. Will he??
