hi guy, i bought a mobo intel original 945 about 6 month ago from a local vendor here in chandigarh ....it wasnt working well from the beginning ....but my vendor kept ruling out other usual suspects like smps and ram .....now he confirms that its a faulty motherboard problem .....he say that it will takes 25 day for him to send it to the Bangalore (where intel have a repair shop)..... 25 days is way too much ..i keep hearing ppl getting replacement in 2 day for other products like lcd and stuff...... i can bear a week on repair but 25 days is just unacceptable......

now i wanna now is that does it really takes 25 days for intel to repair a mobo??....

Ya..ask him for a temporary replacement mobo.

One thing I heard from computer dealer that Intel original motherboard are best in performance for years to go. If unfortunately, the mobo has fault, then it goes directly to the manufacturer. So it will take atleast a month. Before repairing, the motherboard goes through a series of strict test to check how the mobo got the problem. If they find it is a genuine problem in mobo itself, then you are lucky. and will directly get the new replacement(not repairing). If not, they won't give the mobo at all.

Good luck.

But when I had some problem with my board, the vendor just e-mailed intel rep. with board sr. no. and detail of problem, replacement was sent within a weeks time and it was only after the new board was installed the old one was sent back (I was using it for that time).

Ya ... It will take that time ....
And a standby Motherboard isnt always available...

So you have might to spend sum days in agony.

ok, if u have a genuine bill for the board, u can directly get in touch with Intel.
If possible , they will give u new board, or else the current MRP of the board back.
I had problems with my 865GBF long back, I gave the board to Intel authorized courier agency, and mailed the details to Intel customer care. They said it will take arnd 2 months to process a refund. I kept bugging them and threatened to file a complaint with consumer court. The very next day a check of 4000rs was issued from somewhere in US and sent through FedEx ,I got the check within 2 days.

and theres no Intel repair center in Bangalore, in fact none in India. all vendors in India send the board to Chennai where there is authorized warehouse kind of thing.
If possible they process the replacement from Chennai, or else send ur board to Singapore for further processing.

So in short, its quite a pain getting ur board repaired or replaced by Intel.

Motherboard repair with a local person does take long as they are usually overburdened with work. Component level servicing is not easy.
