does intel d31 chipset supports intel pentium D processors

hi,i have an intel pentium D 2.8 with intel d101ggc2 motherboard,,,now due to some problems i plan to change my motherboard and opt for a 4gb supported intel g31 hipset motherboad from either asus or gigabyte,,,now my PC vendor says that g31 chipset motherboard does not support pentium d processors whereas asus website mentions that it i supported,,is it ture,,,i dont have the budget now to upgrade my processor,,please help,,and also suggestv a suitable new motherboard with atleast 4gb ddr2800 support for pentium d processor within 3k

It will fit. Pentium D is LGA775 it will dock to the G31 chipset. (Read -- change vendor).

Also here is the list of the Pentium D CPUs. Your CPU should be on it, depicting LGA775 architecture.

Good board: Gigabyte GA-G41MES2L, for RS. 3098.

Gigabyte G31M-ES2L @ 2.4k is good too. Cheaper and will serve the purpose of OP well.

Supports almost any CPU one can throw at it with LGA775 socket of course.
