DNS error ! help!!!

My windows XP pro sp2 recently started showing up this error whenever I started the PC

"Failed to load control "Socketxctl" from socketx.ocx.Your version of socketx.ocx may be outdated.Make sure that you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application."

This started arising and then zip genius starts giving errors when i use it, CD RW/DVD combo does not work properly. NO troubleshooting or help provided by the program.
Reinstalled windows: 2 days worked fine, then again the error.Here's a screenshot of the message please helppp!!!!!!!!!soon!!

The error comes from a virus that has been floating around in some
keygens. In the registry go to HKEY Local
Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run. Among the run
entries you will find a registry key named DSS. The DSS entry is the
culprit behind the error. Delete the entry, restart your computer and
you should be fine.

BTW, do post a hijackthis log.
