desktop screen abnormally stretched

hi all,

my desktop screen is stretched abnormally lengthwise. i tried 2 fix it manually wid desktop control buttons, but of no use.

what shud i do? shud i need 2 reinstall my windows xp?

Try the recall function of your monitor. The procedure is different for different models. This should restore your monitor screen sizr to the factory default. It is not evidently a software problem.

my monitor is samsung samtron 45bn, so how should i restore the factory settings?

You must get option to degauss using buttons on monitor panel.

i tried to degauss pressing both brightness + contrast buttons simultaneously, the screen was shaken & blurred for a moment, but nothin happ. after that.

^^Another option to automatically adjust horizontal and vertical dimensions of screen is there in monitor controls on Compaq monitors. Check if it is there on yours.

i hav the option to adjust the horizontal setting through monitor buttons, but that control is not working.

well, only some are not working (incl. horizntal,), rest controls are working.

A screen capture / photo will serve good.... is it regd a change in display properties... or is it regd monitor options...?

check the resolution in Display settings to 800 X 600 mode(if not already set)... and send a pic to us..
