Does this screen change color when you view it from up or down 2 feet above? I am planning to buy this but need to be sure that the screen can be used to watch movies from slightly different angles.

No, that is the USP of 'IPS' panels.

Go for it. After watching movies in it now I really detest normal LCD panels. You would love this one.

Thanks I will then demo it in the shop, did you consider any other IPS monitor?
I have BenQ, LG & Asus in mind but no one has stock of IPS panels.
I was quoted 14500/- for dell monitor.

Asus has one and its as shopkeeprs call it "Kohinoor". If get one, you are the luckiest.

BenQ has IPS panels but that is based on some different technology, not exactly IPS but v-matrix or something like that.
LG does not have IPS panel
AOC does not have IPS panel
Samsung does not have IPS panel

Yes Asus PA238Q is what I was looking for but Rashi peripherals refused too, they said only PA246Q is in stock but its too expensive at 31K.
LG225 is an IPS panel but after launching in Feb12 its nowhere in stock, I confirmed this from LG showroom.

So now only choice I am left with is dell U2312HM or U2412M, cost difference is approx 7K, wondering what extra U2412M offers.

Does this monitor show banding in neutral grey?
Test by having a solid screen background using screen colors 128/128/128 then set it as background, now see it from sides does it remain smooth or show banding?

Lovely monitor have one too, worth much more than a 27 inch LED monitor i was going for.
