Data Storage System

Hi,
We are planning to build a data storage system (100 TB). I have done a bit of research over the internet looking out for various options to build this with commodity hardware in the cheap. I have looked at backblaze storage pod and various SATA port multipliers. I am looking for pointers for procuring some of these components here in India or some other solution (non-expensive) like shipping from US. Any previous experiences would be highly appreciated.

I am looking currently at two different approaches for the sata connections,

1) SATA port multipliers - backblaze style. Addonics port multiplier retail for around 65$ in the us market and could provide with 5 additional sata ports.
per port cost = 13$

2) SAS expanders - specifically the HP 36 port SAS expander retails for around 250$ and can provide 32 SATA ports. This requires a SAS card though (the cheapest ones from LSI retail for around 250$)
per port cost = 750$ / 64 = 12$

The other component that is troubling me is the case for holding the disks, Norco has some cheap consumer end cases but I don't know if they are available here in India. Shipping those heavy cases would be certainly costly from US I believe. Please let me know if otherwise.

Also, let me know if you have some other suggestions regarding the hardware to choose.

Thanks in advance
