Hello Friends,
I have a slight different problem,I am not sure whether to make a new thread for this or to post it under some other Data One problems thread that I saw in this site but my problem is not the same as any others .But I think it is better to write it over here .

I got my connection of Data One Home plan just yesterday , and it was connected to my Computer using USB port, though I do have LAN card installed . But, I noticed that the CPE [ADSL modem] got excessively heated and after about every 30 minutes of connection [sometimes even earleir] the connection stops ,but the status keeps on showing it is still connected, and some applications couldn't be opened including the Task Manager . Can anyone please tell me where is the problem ?

Next, when I tried to set the connection using my LAN card ,following the steps mentioned in the BSNL website , I can't do it, despite checking all the steps, including the TCP/IP setting of the card. I find both my LAN card and the Modem under the Device Manager list and the PPPoE dialer in the Network Places . Can anyone please suggest me how to connect using my LAN card ? And also tell me why am I am getting disconnected so often, with excessiv heating of the CPE.

I hope somebody out there must be knowing something about my problems, or it just be the same for some one else too when they got their connection. Whatever it is, friends please post you comments and help me out .

[I was disconected 3 times while posting this simple thing here  My dial up connection performs much better than this.. ]

Kato, do you meant I should uninstall the drivers that was installed using the modem CD ?

And, what about the excessive heating of the modem and it's getting disconnected repeatedly after regular intervals ?

Please reply !

yeah i meant remove the drivers of usb which u got from the CD but ur excessive heating is a problem i cant figure out coz mine also heats but it never led to disconnection. So first try and remove the USB drivers for the modem and try it.

Kato, I just found out that there are only 2 things installed ever since Data one was installed in my system, they are :
MT882 ADSL ROUTER
PPP over Ethernet Protocol 0.98
Now,tell me do you think any one of the above is an USB driver ? Will it be possible to use the Modem and Lan Card to connect after uninstalling the above ?

Do the following

1. Is the splitter connections correct?
2. Is the max idel time set to always on?
3. Scan your hard drive for viruses ;)

is your modem power adapter connected to a good UPS/Spike buster?

My modem also becomes hot but does not get disconnected even after 10 hrs of continious connection.

Charan,
I have checked ,my splitter conections are absolutely correct . And the max idel time is always on ,and the power adapter is connected to the APC UPS,and I checked it is working fine .
As far as I know, my hard drive is free of any viruses , at least most common Anti Viruses fails to detect anything even when running full system scan .
Hope this helps.
