I have a got a nulti-session data DVD. Recently after one session, this dvd suddenly became unreadable. I tested this dvd again by writing to it again, and nero wrote data to it. but still I am not able to see its contents. Now I want to see the contents and if possible rescue the data from this DVD. Any ideas?. My DVD writer is Sony. it is working very nicely. MY operating system is winxp pro sp2 with all updates installed. I use nero for writing. The said DVd is of Moserbaer brand.

A similar thread started by me is already running. I faced similar problem in the case of multi-session DVD. After the first write(obviously without finalisation) the data can not be read by my LG DVD ROM(got hanged), but can be read by BenQ and HP DVD-Writer. After finalisation, only the first session can be read by LG DVD ROM but the writers can read all the sessions. The DVD ROM is almost 4 years old and probably it doesn't support multi-session.

If after insertion of disc your DVD Writer does not got hanged then you can try with Isobuster. Or you may try some other ROM/Writers. Good Luck!

I think in case of multisessions , while overwriting on a previously burnt cd/dvd , u have to burn at the SAME SPEED at which u did earlier.
else either the 1st session or the 2nd session becomes unreadable..:(

Well...try ISOBUSTER..

and as far as i know..the SPEED GETS LOCKD....on which the 1st session is written..i mean we cant change it..!! so that mustnt be a prob..!!

Using ISOBUSTER, I was able to recover some of the files. For recovering other files, this software was taking hell of a long time. Thanks to Dipen01 for pointing out this software.

This raises another question: What are the things one needs to do while writing a DVD in order to avoid this situation?
