Crackling/Popping noise on speakers before crash!! HELP!!

confused

Evolving Rapidly...
Hi guys,

I have 2 year old Dell Studio laptop. It has worked very well so far but I have started facing few issues lately...
1>Many a times I hear a crackling/popping noise on the speakers and then the USB mouse/keyboard/touch pad immediately stop responding after a second or two. Screen continues to function. But sometimes even the screen goes blank and the PC crashes...

2>Sometimes after bootup, my icons in the system tray/notification area don't respond to clicks. Especially the internet connectivity icon freezes and my internet connection wont be detected. Then I have no option but to restart the system...

Will be really grateful for any inputs...

generally speakers give such sound when they have gone kaput.. in my laptop's case.. it was the water droplets on speaker that caused the issue.. think of such incident if it happened in ur case..

share your laptop config? may be its freezing coz of lots of apps running

I have this exact problem just appeared on a 4 year old dell studio 1735. The cracking sound on right speaker, followed by freezing and no choice but to re-boot. I've tried replacing the speakers but to no avail...although now i get a slightly nicer crackling sound!
I also tried changing the hard disk because figured its the first thing to go on a laptop. That was pointless!

Any solutions at your end? The dell service center where i am leaves a lot to be desired..

most probably the sound chip of the laptop is/pc is causing this issue .. try a USB gaming headset or usb sound adapter.
